    sink in island or not

definitely, we have one in the island and it is in constant use, handy for a big dinner where the main sink tends to fill up with pots/pans as you cook

TV on chimney breast - where do wires go?

and the quality on those is rubbish, forget about using an xbox or ps3 or any decent dvd player with them. also they are pretty big so moutning one behnind a tv is going to push the tv a long way out from the wall usual approach is to chase a channel in the wall for the cables and replaster...

    Ceiling speakers - advice

can't just keep adding on speakers. what impedance are they? modern amps are designed to drive speakers between 4 ohms and 8ohms. if you keep adding more speakers eventually you drop the impedance too low and your amp will go plop. i'd revisit those plans if i were you

    Ceiling speakers - advice

the original poter asked for a really good quality speaker. you put in speakers that are designed to go very loud with not much care given to sound quality. if they sound good to you, then that's all that matters. no snobbery involved here, i don't care how much he spends on the speakers, but...

    Ceiling speakers - advice

depends do you want quality or price. those car speakers will be no match for a decent set of in wall speakers, car speakers are designed to run louder as they have to be audible over the sound of the engine. acoustics in a car are terrible, the performance from car speakers doesn't have to be...

    Cat5 Cabling for Home

would recoomend taking the coax back to the attic, but having a power socket beside it. that way you can add a distribution amp if needed. also, for the main vieiwing points run at least 3*coax, and make sure it is ct100 type cable. 2 of the coax for incoming lnbs for sky+ or equivalent, and 1...

    Cat5 Cabling for Home

tom, sorry, wasn't recommending cat5e as the best cable to use. Just as a minimum as a much better and robust solution over wireless. depending on your needs then you can step up to whatever cabling you need, but definitely go wired. not wireless. for example, with a cat5e system i can...

Re-wire in progress - I want Sky digital

recommend you put 3 cables to main viewing point form attic, then 1 cables from attic to each room. that way you can get a distribution amp in attic, take rf feed out of beack of digibox, and use magic eyes to control the sky box from any room in the house.
