Hi,
My friend is experiencing financial hardship and has given notice to quit her health policy in the next couple of weeks.
She has taken out a policy with the HSF to cover their needs.
I have concerns as her and her husband are both getting older, now is the time they need to have health...
There wasn't any damp issues until the last couple of years but there used to be only one person living in the house and now there are six. There's a lot of condensation on the windows in the morning. The bedrooms have a sink in them and often towels are thrown on the radiators.
The advice here...
Probably cost several thousand, I'll have a better idea once I get to chat to the company. So it would be considered capital expense even though it is being installed to combat damp?
Would the existing receipt from my fencer saying "fencing" be sufficient do you think?
Hi,
Can I off set insulation and ventillation costs, possibly the installation of a ventillation unit to combat dampness in my rented out property against my tax due?
Is fencing costs also allowable against my tax?
Many thanks
Priscilla
No joy with SEAI I'm afraid, they could only advise to have a look on their website for list of approved registered professionals in the area. Unfortunately, this list is divided into BER assessors and better home energy contractors which are the guys that insulate etc. Nothing about independant...
Sole, once the account is in both names, the surviving partner can withdraw the money if he or she wishes. I don't think it's required to inform the bank of the death of the partner. If they reside in a small community, the bank officials are often aware anyways and will offer to remove the...
Prosper, VHI multitrip have a time limit for claims, I can't remember how long it is. Might be no harm checking with them in case the claim should be submitted before you have to attend your OP apptmt.
Hope all works out well with your eye appmt.
Thanks everyone for your replies.
Noproblem, I missed your reply earlier somehow. I had a search for ventillation experts online in the Galway area but they all seem to be suppliers of MRV systems and the insulation guys seem to cover the insulation.
As I understand now, it seems I need...
I have had to make a similar claim twice with VHI multitrip, both times no problem at all.
If you don't have an excess waiver, you will lose out on that amount per person but otherwise the claim process is fine, just have your cancellation confirmations and proof of any refunds already claimed...
Thanks Elcato and Aidamcg.
Elcato, I was thinking of the EcoAir Classic MK5 dehumidifier, it seems to be highly recommended on here, are you familiar with with this one or have you any recommendations yourself?
Thanks Leo and Newtothis.
Will apply for the Seai grant towards cavity pumping and attic insulation. I had a look online for insulation and ventilation specialists in Galway but it seems to be mostly insulation companies coming up. I thought Ecowise seemed good enough. Anyone any...
The house is fairly warm a lot of the time, I keep the oil tank topped up which has made that a bit easier. I think a lot of condensation seems to be overnight when the heating is probably off.
Thanks for your replies Jazz and Leo. There are vents in the bedrooms and I'm pretty sure they are open.
I don't think they will have a problem with the dehumidifier as they really don't like the mould on the walls and the electricity gets divided up between them so I don't think that will be...
Thanks The last beep.
I had a look at their website and they say they are countrywide.
Do you mind me asking if they were expensive?
I was glad to see they had dehumidifiers on their site, I think one of those would help anyways just to get rid of all the extra water in the house, I doubt they...
