    Thanks yea I already hold Berkshire and will keep adding to it , I'll look into the other 2 you mention ..I suppose I wanted to diversify away from the US a bit ,hence the European values and emerging markets, even though I know most big companies are multinational anyway

    Thanks,yea I'd prefer to be investing in ETFs but as you say it's a pain re tax treatment so that's why I went down the investment trust route but that seems to be blocked for now at least

    Thanks yes it's not a straightforward decision..my thinking is that as I won't have full 40 years by retirement I can use it to top up lump sum and the rest can be use to supplement normal pension ..I joined in 2007 so I'm on the integrated pension so it appears that it can be used there

    How long will ECB base rate stay low for?

    it will stay as low until inflation looks to becoming a threat..so keep an eye on the CPI's in the main economies of Germany + France, if these start rising,expect a ECB rate rise..of course there are other factors but I think this is the main one.
