    Walnut internal doors

Again, try Heiton Buckleys as well. They have a good range of doors. I got Oak Veneer Doors from them and painted them white.. I wanted a 'heavy' door but also wanted a white door and could not source a quality white door so went with oak and painted it... Cost about €100 each.

Energy ratings on existing houses - what is acceptable?

I had a 1000sqft duplex in Dublin built in 2003 and I cahnged the bulbs to low-e bulbs and insulated pipework in hot-press and it got a C1. Now, lots of default values had to be used (walls, windows etc...) but I would guess that this was typical enough of the standard over the past decade...

    Radiator not working

Rather than re-hash it all, here is a link on exactly how to balance your radiators. You probably don't have the temp gauges to do it yourself so it may be just easier to pay a plumber for an hour's work to do it. Just make sure you have the heating off and the radiators are cool before he...

    Installation of Solar Panels

First port of call should be your plumber. To be honest, I have seen them being installed and they are not that difficult to install. Any competent plumber should be able to manage it. Make sure the correct type of expansion vessel etc.. is used.. J

Mira Elite 2 Electric Shower Problem

Any electrician worth his salt could change one of these in an hour. So allow €80 for an hour callout charge and add that to the price of the shower and you have your price. J

    Decking Costs

Agreed. One way to stop the rats is to 'haunch' the decking joists at the perimiter with concrete to seal it. No entry is available then. Slippery: Keep it away from deciduous trees and scrub it once a year with a deck brush.. J

Advice how to clean up Decking e

I did mine in June and it hadn't been done in 2.5 yrs previous to that so it needed a good going over. Firstly I powerhosed it. Be careful here.. If you go too close with the powerhose you will strip the old stain off it and your end result will be a bit blotchy... Next I got a deck scrub...

    Wooden Wheelie Bin Storage

I made one a few years ago. It cost about €40 in materials and took almost 1 full Saturday to make... I put a lift top on it too and connected the bin-lids to it for when I wanted to put in a bag to one of the bins.

    Extractor fan from ensuite

Yeah, I reckon it should be fine. Not ideal, but no reason it won't work. Is it sealed to the fan correctly? J

    Extractor fan from ensuite

1/2 " pipe sounds wrong.. I don't even know how you would pipe a 1/2" fitting to an extractor fan. You should be looking st a 4" extract hose anyway. Can't see it being any way efficient at 1/2". J

Mira Elite 2 Shower goes wonky every summer!

The in-line filter is behind a hexagonal nut. If you open the nut before turning off the water supply to the shower, it will leak at pressure... J.

Mira Elite 2 Shower goes wonky every summer!

Folks, You need to isolate the water supply to shower before you remove the in-line filter or else you will have a nasty surprise when the water is spraying all over the place and you can't stop it... J

Jack & Jill V's en suite + Main bathroom - design opinions/feedback please

Joan, I have a large ensuite bathroom in the master ensuite, a large enough Jack& Gill and a medium sized main bathroom. Most of the effort will be put into the ensuite and Jack & Gill as these will be used the most. As you said, main bathroom will probably be used the least amount. J.
