From my experience a vent in the window won't suffice (unless the gas fire is one that has it's own box). Two sources of air are required (a chimney and a vent). I'd imagine that you could add a vent yourself if you are sufficiently experienced. Otherwise a registered gas installer can do it.

Problem solved!! The TV has an option for AV2 output (which the amp is connected to). It was set to TV by default. When I set it to Auto it switches between terrestial and digital as required!
