    Is my strategy too cautious?

You say you are in Bonds 25.47% If you were also in Prism Low and Prism 2, these are heavily invested in Bonds too. Prism Low - 84% Bonds Prism 2 - 73% Bonds Even Prism 3 is 59% Bonds With a decline in Bond values recently, then any Bond-heavy investments would take a hit...

    Ideal Homes Show

Been there a few times over the years, on free tickets (does anyone actually pay?) Its basically just a load of sales pitches under the same roof. It hasn't gotten any worse - its the same as ever. Its finally dawned on us that it'll never improve. We're not going anymore. Some of the sales...

Glad to see it worked out for you @Ada2019 . My wife is in a similar situation - she is missing 10 years service from a previous role in a hospital which haven't transferred to her current role (in a local authority). Can i ask, how did you get the confirmation letters from previous employers?

Revenue outreach events for the over 65s

Great idea, seems like common sense but should be open to all ages. A glance through AAM forums here shows how cumbersome is our tax system.

Health Insurance Tax Relief Changes as per Laya - relief reducing to 19% from 20%

Strange. According to Michael McGrath, in an answer to a Dail question on Feb 7th 2024.... "Tax relief for medical insurance premiums is provided at the standard rate of income tax, of 20 per cent. The relief available is equal to the lesser of (a) 20 per cent of the cost of the policy or...

    State benefit payment at 65

This is also anti-customer (from DSPs BP65 Guidelines)... "The onus is on the customer to prove entitlement to BP65 and to produce any evidence reasonably required." So, the applicant has to interpret the guidelines correctly, which is unfair to many who may not even have access to the...

    Ultimate Retirement Calculator?

Yeah, it seems like its designed mainly for pensions which will buy an annuity. It doesn't show the % annuity rate used. It also assumes you just have a single pension pot. No mention of a TF lump-sum either. "Your accumulated retirement fund is converted to an annual pension using a...

Implications of new law on age 65 retirement

Is it likely that the BP65 payment will be removed given that 65 can no longer be a compulsory retirement age? Wasn't it introduced to cater for people who were forced to retire at 65 by their employer? That's no longer an issue, so BP65 has been rendered 'redundant' (excuse the pun) I'd guess...
