Can I use a dimmer on a transformer light

Hoagy/Copper, sincerest apologies and have taken back what was said. Confused resistance with power. When I said under-rating above I meant the dimmer being rated lower than the load. Note. I am not a practicing electrician.

ESB account owner or tenants names

No charge for name transfer to new owner. However, when you transfer bills to a named non-owner/tenant, afaik, any default on payment will land with you.

Can I use a dimmer on a transformer light

Suck-and-see comments on electrics worry me. Dimmers are rated for specific wattages/loads. Under-rating them will physically burn them out. Dimmers lower the voltage. Lowering the voltage on a primary side of a transformer may well be going below that primary winding's rating and it relative...

    Irish Medical Board bans Mesulid/Nimesulid/Aulin/Mesine

Aulin was/is sold without perscription in other European countries. Worries me as in younger days I among others used it as a remedy for loads of ailments. Hangovers included.

Sole Trader splitting business for VAT purpose?

Thanks for feedback extopia. Honestly wasn't trying to "engineer" a solution, but just trying to find one within system. I hope some other posters have comments on feasibility of option B.

Sole Trader splitting business for VAT purpose?

Would love somebody to propose an solution to the following and comment on the two "options" I can think of. 1. Married couple, both would be non-PAYE. 2. A product service offering that would be aimed 70% towards commercial concerns and 30% towards domestic. 3. If the domestic was treated as...

    Golden Pages: Questions

Fair point but try telling that to a Locksmith. It really depends on the type of goods/service you are offering. A little bit of "market research" along the lines of ".......if you were looking for XYZ, where would be your first port of call?" As per Blacknight's post, I would imagine that...

    Lighting circuit load

Hi. Your MCB (10amp) at board is there to protect your circuit (cable) and will trip if you push above 10amp. If you want to stress test before fitting, then fit a 150w bulb and turn on all other lights in house.

    Another huge ESB bill!

Would agree with other posters on storage heater ignorance among some, caused by a clear lack of instruction from suppliers. Are you sure you are fifferentiating between storage part of heater and combi part that is fitted with some?

    Lighting circuit load

Hi, could you elaborate? Is it each circuit or each switched point? If it's each domestic circuit, then the maximum permisseable load is 10amps, as per breaker rating on board. If it's each switched point then the actual load would be the addition of all the wattages of bulbs divided by...
