NIB Ditch Free Banking For New Customers and now existing customers

Got my letter today...grr. What are the pitfalls of getting rid of the current a/c? We write less than half a dozen cheques pa. Only the DD to the electricity provider on the current a/c, all others on the CC. Use mostly cash, some laser. I'm so angry about this, and 'all the banks are doing...

Does anyone know anyone who has ever...won anything on a prize bond?!

I have a grand total of 3 (!) PBs given to me as a birthday gift years ago by an aunt. I've twice won €75, which I reckon is a pretty damn good return by any standard :D

Small propane gas cylinders - where in Cork?

All, did a search but found nothing. We're looking for a refill for a 6kg propane gas cylinder somewhere in the Cork city/suburban area. Tried Atlantic Homecare and a few filling stations yesterday, but they only had the bigger cylinders. The Golden Pages wasn't helpful, and a google search...

How do I clean a duvet?

Dry-cleaning a duvet is quite expensive these days, and imo doesn't really do a good job. Either soak it in the bath as PaddyBloggit suggests, or go to a laundrette and see if it will fit in the washers there.

    Traditional Irish Stew

I usually take the chops out of the pot after an hour and remove the bones etc. Then put the meat back in. The bones tend to fall out during cooking and if there are small pieces of bone I don't want to inadvertently serve them up to my smallies. (Nanny state eh;)) Also, by cooking the chops...

HELP - Leak in Toyota Rav 4

Could be a leak in the windscreen seal. Dry it out, place newspapers under the carpet, then run a hose on the windscreen for a while. See if the water gets in. Or it could be a door-seal. Try joining a toyota owners website. I'm currently trying to track down a leak in the boot of my car, so I...

Skoda Octavia - water pooling in boot

Thanks folks. I'm now a proud member of a skoda owners' forum, but no joy so far! However, there have been some suggestions of further tests to try.....oh joy, I can see another fun weekend ahead :) If I do manage to solve it I'll post back. So disappointed, cos apart from the onboard...

PRSA v Personal Retirement Bond - where can I find out more?

Thanks so much for that - it's going to help me to know what questions to ask the IFA. Must do some more research - have been looking at the Pension Board's website, and your definitions will help me to understand their documentation better.

PRSA v Personal Retirement Bond - where can I find out more?

I've had a look in the key posts, but still no wiser:confused: Was in a DB scheme for 14 yrs, made redundant in 2006. At the time I made the pension paid-up. I'm at home with my children since, so didn't have a new employer to transfer to. The scheme is being wound up now, and I have to...

Skoda Octavia - water pooling in boot

Have a 2003 Octavia, bought during the only dry spell of the year, last May. Anyway, turns out theres a leak in the boot. We've spent ages trying to track down the source - took off the lining, discovered the rear-window-washer tube was disconnected and rejoined it. But the leak continues. We've...

Removing Super Glue from my hands?

est bet is to soak your hands in hot water for a while. Eventually you'll be able to peel off the glue. Soak them for about 10 mins to begin with, topping up the hot water as required. Then you can start working on the glue - if it's not budging, soak for another 5-10 mins, check again. Repeat...

    10th wedding anniversary

what about a city-break in Europe? We were going to go back to where we honeymooned but the flights weren't working out so we picked another destination. For my parents' 40th we booked flights and hotel. Took them out to dinner and presented them with a giftbox. There was a guidebook in it, and...

    Where to meet single women

I know someone dissed the suggestion of Macra, but I know at least one guy who met his wife by joining the Cork City branch of Macra! (And neither of them had a farming connection - not a quota or a bit of road frontage between them;) What about a political party?! Drama group? Film club?

Inset door mat in wooden floor

We didn't get it done, and my head is wrecked! Any decent mat is too thick and the door won't open over it. Any one thin enough to open the door over is not really good enough to cope with the wet n dirty shoes....

Where to get white gold rings rhodium plated - quickly.

Took the plunge and got them done thru Neville's in B'pool - they said it'd be €35-40 per item. It took 9 days. They checked the settings on the e-ring (had never had this done, and have it since '95:eek:). In the end it was €35 each, and I'm really pleased with the result.

Where to get white gold rings rhodium plated - quickly.

march_hare, where in Cork did you get the rhodium-plating done? I'd like to get my wedding, engagement and eternity bands done, but have no idea where to go, or how much it would cost... I know this thread is 12 months old, but here's hoping!

AVCs on husband's pension or PRSA for me?

Situation is this: Husband - defined contribution pension scheme, currently not making AVCs. Me - made redundant last year, DB pension, which is apparently going to be wound up in the next while. When I was made redundant, the pension was paid up (is this the correct term?) - I left it where...

    Paying bridesmaids costs

If you are competent at doing your hair and makeup, lucky you! Frankly I'm not, so no way i was going to do them myself. I got married mid-90's, and I know things have changed a lot, but I paid for makeup for bridal party and my mom. Had 2 BMs, I paid for hair for me and CBM - other BM preferred...

    Project Management Qualification

Have done both the IPMA Diploma and and PMI Certification. Tbh I found that preparing for the PMP was much more demanding and stressful. The deliverables(!) for the IPMA were not that difficult in themselves - juggling work, study, homework and potty-training DD2 was the tricky part for me:p...

    Anti-sibling policy - legal?

Surprised to see how common this seems to be - I worked for a large multinational and there were loads of siblings, married couples, cousins etc. Actually they seemed to almost positively discriminate towards relatives.
