Does anyone know how to tell if a policy issued by "Wakam" was issued by the real Wakam or the fake (per CBoI) Wakam?
Assume I don't have access to the history of the policy, I'm just trying to check whether the insurance disk as displayed represents a real policy.

Brendan is correct, per the Revenue advice.
CAT paid by the disponer
The disponer may pay the tax due on your gift or inheritance. In this case, your gift or inheritance amount increases by the amount of tax the disponer paid.
Example
Eric receives a gift of €100,000 and John, the disponer...
I'm with the great continental steamer on this one. He didn't instruct the bank to close his account, they closed it. He instructed them to switch DDs,SOs, etc . . . to another bank, per the standards and said he would advise when he wanted to close the account.
If they got his letter and...
Picture this scenario (using round figures for ease of interpretation) -
2001 - person receives gift of €75,000 from parent, below threshold, no tax paid
2009 - person inherits €500,000 from parent, threshold is €542,000, cumulative amount is €575,000, tax paid on €33,000, all good.
2012 -...
But if it wasn't a contract, what was it ? An understanding ? A dig out ? The shop indicated they would supply the larger item instead of the smaller one which was contracted. Does this not mean the contract was simply updated to include the larger item in exchange for (the notional)...
The point I get from Sandals posts is that they paid €x for the original item which the shop failed to deliver on. The shop then offered to supply the larger item (worth €y), so the contract was now for the new item. The shop also failed to deliver the larger item, so they are now looking to...
Update on the KBC end - I accessed my online account today and (at least according to their system) the money was credited to my account on the day it was presented. Of course, they may just have it showing there but not cleared.
Point being - although KBC originally used Ulster for clearing...
I note reference here to issues surrounding KBC. I opened a deposit account with them about 2 weeks ago and transferred a small amount in. Early this week I transferred a larger sum in, and *now* I find that they use Ulster for clearing and this payment may go into limbo for an unknown period...
Yeah, I had a problem tracking down my money initially. The correspondence that I had talked of moving my money to AIB Direct, but I didn't actually get a statement or account number from them. It took me a while to work out that *nothing* had changed and the account numbers were all the same...
Well, I thought I knew who my money was with - AIB Direct. That's what they told me in all the letters. I got my statements from AIB Direct. I rang AIB Direct to get my money, etc . . .
At the end of the day, as long as I get my interest and I can get my money back I'm happy enough.
I...
Did you ever hear the one about the bank that failed, was split into two, but in fact wasn't really split at all ?
Here's the pitch -
* Along with many others, I had money on deposit with Anglo
* Anglo went boom
* We were told that Anglo was being split
* good stuff (which I take to...
I didn't trust the switching mechanisms when changing from BoI to AIB last year. Yeah, I know bad timing with AIB introducing fees and all that.
I opened my new AIB account and gradually moved the smaller DDs & SOs to it, while funding it manually from the BoI account. Once it got to the...
I spent the last few months moving *to* AIB, after several decades of banking with BoI.
I closed out my current, credit & savings accounts with them. It all started with getting an AIB mortgage a while back. The AIB customer service seemed good compared to BoI, but not good enough to move...
If the account was emptied in March 2010, then you would have 'lost' one months interest, so you wouldn't be looking at a full 12 months interest. Essentially, there would be no Month 12 in CiaranTs list above, or if there was then it would be interest on €140 and not on €1,500+
I've recently...
I'm using gnucash at the moment for tracking my expenditure. It can be a little over the top at first, but after a month or two of playing around with it I think it's pretty good.
I started off with some basic accounts (credit card, current account, salary, groceries, petrol, insurance...
Does anyone know the story for changing your address on the various (and there are many) savings products from An Post ? I have mailed them and asked, but I'm just checking to see if anyone here knows the answer. I have managed to change things like bank accounts and bills (no surprise there)...
