Re: 2 overseas investment properties funded by personal loans

Agreed but I would sell the other one. Property 1 has a rental yield of 4.7%, property 2 has a yield of 3.5%. Why are you suggesting selling the one producing the lower yield?

Re: Teacher with multiple properties living on the breadline

sell. you are way over exposed to one asset. You have debts of €650 on a salary of €60k. You are really on the edge each month, a drop in rental (very likely imho) and/or an increase in ECB are you...

Re: Joseph Stiglitz on Prime Time

So I take it you were expecting something else?

If the business plan for NAMA had been: "take 70b in cash and burn it", I wouldn't have been surprised. And the best part, you would still have...

Re: Tracker bond linked to S&P

I would agree with the above poster. Just buy an ETF linked to the S&P500. Forget these products, assuming that you want to invest in equities. Here you can work...

Re: Tracker bond linked to S&P

If you don't have the time to check up the relevant figures on the S&P you probably shouldn't be investing in it.

Re: "Economic value" versus "market value"

I must be missing something in your argument because from my point of view it's the banks that are selling the property and they are in market 3).

Re: "Economic value" versus "market value"

If there is no market; they are not worth anything..

From the sounds of it, it's worth 500k but the more pressing issue is your mental disorder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizophrenia) ;)

Re: redundancy package

Thomas Cook has been losing money for at least the past 5 years running. There's a reason they are letting people go. But don't let that get in the way of your "analysis".

Re: "Economic value" versus "market value"

Long term conomic value = Political BS spin to convince the Irish tax payer that they are not being ripped off
Market Value = What something is worth

Re: Hurray for accBank?

Absolutely not. If something is worth 100k, then pretending it's worth 200k for the next 15 years does not make sense unless you want to put Ireland through a Japan styled Lost Decade...

Re: redundancy package

I almost feel out of my chair when I heard that the Thomas Cook employees who are illegally occupying the TC offices were offered 5 weeks per year of service and want 8. Incredible.

Re: Hurray for accBank?

NO! Shame on the people who took out money to buy over priced land and shame on the people who gave them the money. Both are equally culpable. Now there is clearly no "change the rules" half way...

Re: A toxic bank?

Surely the key to this whole process is how much NAMA will pay for assets. The problem will be that the incompetent/corrupt government will overpay for the assets leaving the taxpayers holding...

Re: AIB & BOI - Summary of bail out terms

If the shareholders don't fire their whole board after what has happened to their investment then they deserve those incompetents.

Re: AIB & BOI - Summary of bail out terms

Where's the provios that borrowers can only borrow 80% of the mortgage with repayments capped at a % of their salary? Did we not learn anything from this housing bubble?
