Aritech alarm - shock sensor on entry door

Is it possible to fit an inertia shock sensor onto the hall door as I have had bogus leaflet droppers banging on door to see if they can gain entry. I have the magnetic type fitted and have both types on all windows.

Yes, an easy enough job. There's two options, run a new cable back to the box or wire it up in series with the contact sensor.

Wiring it directly to the box will give you immediate alarm activation on detecting vibrations, downside here is you'd have to be very careful opening / closing the door so as not to trigger it.

If wired up with the door contact, you get the entry/exit delay period in which you can avoid false alarms when you're entering or leaving the building. On the downside, the alarm won't go off for that period of time when one of these people trigger the sensor.

I've never seen it done, as Leo says, "you will have to be very careful closing the door" or the shock sensor sensitivity will have adjusted to the minimum.

Would you consider a) Fitting an external mailbox and sealing up the slot on the door. Place this away from the front door.
b) Putting up a sign at the gate stating that you don't want any junk mail.

If you regularly leave the hall door unlocked while inside the house it would be good practise to fit a bell which will give a short ring when the door opens. With many alarm panels this can be achieved with the chime function.

I didn't think the sensors automatically adjust their own sensitivity? This doesn't happen as far as I know.
You set the sensitivity for each sensor at the panel, closing the door isn't going to adjust that setting.

You set the sensitivity for each sensor at the panel, closing the door isn't going to adjust that setting.

You adjust the sensitivity at the sensor itself, not the panel. To the panel it's just a simple open / closed circuit.
