hi all,

our family is travelling to canada at the end of the month and we have travel insurance with GLOHEALTH.
I am concerned about outpatient medical expenses:
i.e. if we get sick and go to hospital but are not admitted. We may still need to pay for scans, doctors etc.

GLOHEALTH confirmed that they only pay 50% up to 1,000 euros maximum for outpatient with the usual excess on the policy.

Does anyone know of a travel insurance which covers outpatient expenses ?

thanks a lot

rusty

Will your general health insurance cover the cost?

VHI completely covered my outpatient expenses in Canada. (I had VHI travel insurance as well, but it only covered outpatients to max €500.) So, I had to claim from my general insurance.

I use multitrip.com insurance and was fully reimbursed (after my small excess) for an outpatient procedure. Broke 3 fingers in a fall, was treated in A&E in Florida, tried to claim from Laya, discovered my policy does not cover outpatient procedures. Then claimed from multitrip with no problem.

thanks marion and eithne for your responses.
My general health insurance wont cover the outpatient expenses - we have a fairly basic plan.
I will go with multitrip.com!

thanks
russell
