Sliding patio door

Has anyone any ideas on triple glazed patio sliding door. It will be over 9 ft wide, and I am concerned about the weight and also the cost.

Also if there are any recommendations for good quality affordable suppliers I would be very grateful.

Just installed the very same, overall length of 320cm, with one half sliding over the other. PVC and triple glazed, height of 230cm. Great piece of engineering, as it slides open effortlessly.
Bought from an Austrian company via its Dublin based branch, www.hrachowina.ie - it is called a lifting / sliding door.

The thing is heavy, which makes for some work for the installers, but it doesn't matter once installed.
Quality is excellent but you are looking at around 7-8K plus installation.
We got all other Windows and front door as well (renovation / extension) so price might depend on overall package.

No connection to the company beyond being a happy customer and having grown up Austria, so know the brand for decades.

Hi newirishman,

Thanks for that, the price has thrown me. How many windows were included in that price, as i would only need 3 small ones.

The price is "just" for the sliding door - forgot to mention that is is an Alu / PVC window (aluminum on the outside, PVC frame and on the inside)
Standard tripled glazed windows of same construction (Alu/PVC) are somewhere around 500-800 euro a piece, depending on size.

Price from another provider for a sliding door of that size was around 5K (can't remember if it was wood or PVC). The quality was not comparable though, in terms of sliding / closing mechanism, "chunkiness" of the frame and general look and feel.

I can only say that those sliding doors aren't cheap if you want to get good quality and a lifetime of no hassle. If you want to save money you'd probably need to look at folding doors, but they are not as good from an insulation point of view in my opinion, and much more finicky.
