must get on to Eddie so! I have yet to meet a sexed up Co Councillor. probably will end up disappointed again:(

FF and FG have moved so far to the left that there is no right wing party anymore!

Some of the highest social welfare rates in the OECD. An effective ban on repossessions of people who don't pay their mortgages. A huge number of people paying no taxes at all on income. Increased CGT and CAT. Property taxes.

They are all socialists.

Brendan
Exactly...there is no Right wing party in Ireland, not even Right of Centre. Somethings Renua say make me want to vote for them but as a Public Servant, some of their policies would be the end of me :p. Though I expect if they do get into power as a very Junior coalition party, all their radical baggage will be left at the door

I did not watch the debate but from all I have heard since I am glad I did not.

I genuinely think that they are a worthless farce. I never felt that they should be taken seriously.

I have no doubt that Fine Gael, Fianna Fial, Labour occupy that centre ground were the economy is watched , but they don,t forget the social contract with citizens.
I think that is a good space to work from.

From the promises that were aired they are all for the birds ,unless the economy grows like the clappers.

Sinn Fein are abolishing anything that has the whiff of taxation or might (god forbid) annoy anyone .
They will draw votes on their promises secure that they won,t have to enact anything.

Dr Debt,
I don't worry about Right Wingers ,but the Hard Right as they generally attract fascist facing dimwits who have a sense of anger and who seem to think problems are quickly solved by changing the captain not the boat ? do we want people like Trump or Cruz? .
At least our boyos (for all their flaws) have some semblance of balance and present a more nuanced position.

The next debate will be gas altogether.
Does anyone know which 7 parties will be represented?
I presume it'll be
FG (Kenny)
FF (Martin)
Labour (Burton)
Shinners (Adams)

After that who's in?

Anti Reality Alliance?
People Before Logic?
The Shane Ross Fan Club?
Lucinda's Fan Club?

ARA(AAL) and PBL(PBP) could band together and just place a bucket of cold vomit (or Mick Wallace's pink t-shirt) on a podium and save the bother of turning up.

Labour seem to have loaded up the flux capacitor and are heading for 88mph back to 2006:

promises to negotiate a new public sector pay deal in 2018 (upwards I assume?)
increased child benefit payments and for universal free GP care by 2021
Even an SSIA for FTB! Under the Labour proposals for every € 4 a first time buyer saves the Government will provide a top-up of € 1

Thank God for the EU rules on spending, that's all I say!!
