Block up wall vents

I have big wall vents in the bedrooms. They are about 25cm x 25cm which are large in my opinion and probably let a lot of heat out.
I also have windows with sliding vents.
A friend suggests that the window vents are sufficient and that I could block up the holes in the walls.
Is this recommended or not?
Thanks

Can you unscrew the vent cover and put something in like cardboard packaging \ the kind that looks like a big egg carton?
See if it helps with the cold and doesn't cause any dampness.
You don't want to spend a lot of money completely blocking them and find you need them.
Also for BER certs and stuff like that you are supposed to have vents with sliding covers I think or the computer program will mark you down.

I was going to do a nice job bricking in a plastic pipe and plastering over the top.. But I don't want a longer term problem or to be downgraded in a BER.

I had the same in my house. I put a 4" pipe in them and filled around them with expandable foam. I then put a sliding/adjustable vent cover over the inside of the vents. It made a big difference going from a 9" square hole in my walls to a 4" round with a cover.

Remember that you need to have a vent in a room if it has a gas appliance, stove, etc.

I have sliding vents on Windows in new part of home. I did not put any wall vents in.

I tried my best to get my builder to block off the other vents in original home , but they wouldn't.

They put in smaller pipes and in one room they put a small round vent instead of the square vent.m that was letting in gale force wind.

Dont you get the loud whistling when there is high winds?
Thats also a concern.
The vents are too big now, but quiet enough.. but the whistling vents cause sleepless nights.
I would like to block them up completely and leave the window vents to essentially do the same job.. but not so sure.

The only really noisy wall vents now on my home are those on the south west wall. There Is no noise on my sliding window vents.

I don't think you'll get window vents big enough to meet building regs. The ideal solution is MHRV, but this is an expensive retro-fit.
