If you use the automatic switching service, there should be no issues with your mortgage payment. Just make sure it goes out on the right date, if it does not, ring BoI straight away and explain.

PTSB are currently giving 50-100 EUR free to those that switch. Make sure you get this incentive.

Previously, when PTSB introduced new current account products, they kept the same T&C's for their existing products but just adopted new charges for new customers. Hence, PTSB probably will eventually introduce fees but the fees might just apply to new customers.

I have being with PTSB for current account for 8 years. Good app, good online banking, good online wire payments set ups, good automatic lodging machines when needed, often horrific queues in branches like most banks for other things, debit card is contactless and telephone support is good.

Make the switch!

No brainer - I made the switch from BOI current account to PTSB. Despite what others say it's still fairly easy to have completely FREE banking once you follow conditions like €1,500 lodgement etc.

is it true i could in theory transfer 1500 euro in the account and take it back out ağain next day for free banking

I'm about to switch from BOI. Currently my wife and i have 2 separate a/c's and we are both being charged the maintenance fees every quarter with BOI. I'm changing current a/c and credit card to avail of the 100 Euro offer from PTSB. Setting up one single joint a/c and i'll have the wages being paid which covers the 1500 Euro lodgement requirement. I'll update this thread with our progress if you want OP?

OK I rang PTSB last Thurs 29th to switch, I have all the forms filled in, ID's and proof of address submitted. They have confirmed receipt of all documents today Nov 3rd.

There were some issues with some of the correspondance sent in. Had to submit more documents for my wife. Hopefully that's everything in now

Received all my original documentation back from them today and they informed me our joint a/c will be active tomorrow and should receive cards tomorrow also. Switching date is set for Nov 20th. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.

Hi Fingers. Did you get the €100 to switch? Not sure if they are still offering it - don't see anything about it on their website. Sick of paying ridiculous bank charges to BofI!

Not yet...still in the switch process. I'm only in line for the 50 smacks though as I'm gonna stay with my current CC provider.

Switch is finally complete. I had to leave my old BOI current a/c in credit by 50 Euros of which the sneaks took two seperate charges of 17.50 and 5 ...I presume one of the charges is their quarterly fees. Must ring them about that. They transferred the remainder into my new PTSB a/c.
I'm still waiting on the 50 Euro credit from PTSB...they say I'll get it 2 weeks after the switch date. I'll keep yiz updated.
Overall it wasn't as straight forward as i would have thought. I still had to chase some of my direct debits down individually and cancel them myself which was a bit of hassle. Overall I am happy I have left BOI. I am cancelling my credit card completely and will be using a revolut card for online purchases but I still had to leave my CC a/c 30 euros in credit for govt stamp duty which i believe is a very sneaky charge they impose on you ...even though i paid it already last April. Next up will be my mortgage switch! :)

I received the 50 Euro yesterday for a switch start date of 11th Nov. No issues so far but some of my direct debits are due next week. My BOI account will be open another week or 2 then closed assuming all is good.
