Hi,

I was made redundant from a PAYE job in January and received some wages in this tax year. I also received Jobseeker benefit for 9 months. I am now a self employed director but am paying myself through the PAYE system from Nov 1 as I build my business.

When I come to a P21 for 2015 will I be entitled to a pro rata of the PAYE credit fro January to October ? Or does becoming self employed at anytime in the year rule out the credit ?

You're entitled to the full PAYE credit from your job in January and the Benefit.. Directors used to not be able to avail of this credit and I don't believe this has changed.

That is what I thought....I need really only have one day's pay and I should have got the full credit. The chap at revenue didn't see it that way. He has set me on a Week 1 basis for the last two months of the year so I assume it can be sorted out with a P21.

You won't be getting a P21C for 2015 - you have to file an Income Tax return so will get either a Self-Assessment Letter or a Notice of Assessment for the year

You would have to have enough salary from non proprietory directorships ie €8250 to qualify of the entire credit.
