Hi,
I'm trying to fill in the CGT form and everything seems obvious except for the very first section 1. Description of Assets.
I have no problem with calculating net gains/losses and with the FIFO methods (I even consulted the per month exchange rates tables published by the Revenue service) but I can't for the life of me figure out what to write on S1(a) Shares/Securities - Quoted.
Imagining I bought 100 shares from company X by 1eur, and sold them later by 2eur, and 1000 shares from company Y for 10eur, and sold them later by 20eur, what value should be put on S1(a) - Shares/Securities - Quoted?
I could go with either 100*1+1000*10=10100, or 100*2+1000*20=20200, is any of those right? Which one?
I'm sorry, this has probably a very simple answer but I'm baffled - maybe I didn't search right, but I couldn't find an example where the form is filled, just examples of calculations for the next sections.
