I gave a stranger I met online €600 to buy toys, but she disappeared with the money.

why ever give that kind of money to a stranger??live and learn dude there is no comeback really unless you want people to find out whatever your motives for doing so

Yes I gave her cash in a public place
Not very solid just I gave her cash in a few texts & she was buying & booking the room you could read them either way

I cannot believe this thread. But here's the financial advice. Next time, book the room yourself, buy the toys yourself and pay her afterwards.

And please don't waste your time and more importantly the Gardai's time with this as they are just going to laugh at you and do nothing.

Would I have the right to put up her photo seeking information on her she did send them to me
Not adding anything bad or claiming anything ?

Not on askaboutmoney but you can put it up somewhere else.

Why not use Google Images? I would imagine you would find her appearing in a few places.

I've bad news for you. She didn't buy "toys" with the money. How old was she?

Seriously, if you are not happy saying this to your wife avoid going to the guards. Unless you want to give them a laugh.

Paul Cat, amazing! I am at a loss when I read your words? Your only worry is how to get justice on how you have been wronged(I personally feel life taught you a lesson) I see no justice for your wife here either! I would be so hurt to find out my husband was using our money for the intentions you had and can't help worry for your wife! Life has a way of paying out what you pay in!
FIND YOUR MORAL COMPASS...

Thanks graftgirl

Only posted this to see if other people had been victims

Please do not judge things with morales

Very true but what about all people who fall for other scams to send money or loan money

Oh there is a scam alright! Please everyone keep your eyes peeled for 600e going missing out of the household pot this week...
It's a huge scam!

A few years ago there was a guy who feature on the rte radio who was just out on the roads of Ireland just taking lifts from people who had a story so sad people were giving him money .
He never asked for money but when he was given it he said would post it back but never did

You could tell your wife that happened to your €600.

I am not sure what your point is here, but really take responsibility for what you have done. If you had succeeded with your tryst with this person you wouldn't be on here lamenting on the loss of your €600. You were gullible, learn from it and MOVE ON.

Sounds as if you couldnt care about your wife your only hurt because she tricked you and your pride is hurt, this isnt the right forum to post rubbish like this..move on you got scammed one day she will mess up just live your own life, there is no scorn like a womans they say

I have been reading this post with some interest, and amusement. I have got tired waiting for someone to pass the rather obvious comment , so here goes my own attempt.

I feel sorry for Paul , who has been " taken for a ride " , ( although not in the manner he may have expected ) by this lady.

I feel all he can do is write the incident off to experience . Involving the Guards may make the whole incident go public and his wife may discover the details.

As in hiring any tradesperson, it is safer to only pay a small deposit , before the service is completed to your satisfaction.
