Is the builder still responsible?

Hello,

Can anyone here offer advise on after what length of time the builder is not liable for coming back to the house and fixing problems that arise?

Specifically we moved into our house in 2010 and we have now found a water leak that coming from the roof that has resulted in damp patches on the ceiling and walls in the upstairs bedroom.

I contacted the builder and was informed that due to the length of time that has passed they are no longer responsible for this.

Any advice appreciated,

What did your contract say? That will determine their responsibilities.

I'd be very surprised if any would offer cover over 5 years though.
