... I do have broadband and a satellite picking up European channels (I don't know what kind or where its pointed to).

What to do? (I don't want to enter into a contract of a few months duration for another few months, until around after the RWC)

TV3, on saorview have the sole terrestrial rights here in ROI, all 48 matches broadcast

terrestrial aerial and a saorview box or saorview enabled TV
Why go contract if u have the sat dish

will get you sorted on the Sat dish

If seeing the matches in HD is important to you, you will need a satellite device be it a Sky box to see TV3 in HD (it is strongly rumoured that TV3 HD will only be on the Sky platform) or a Freesat box to receive ITV1 HD...

Almost surprised TV3 are coughing up to go HD on Sky, their SD picture quality has always been about the worst on the platform.

About time too. The Champions League matches always look like someone is broadcasting them through an old Nokia phone! There is a bit of nostalgia to them though as it reminds me of watching European football back in the 80s

Dunno if this is allowed here but Mobdro in a great application for android tablets. Let's you stream hundreds of TV stations for free.

Download it to android phone or tablet and you can watch TV as you want. Use Chromecast to stream it to you TV for best viewing.
