There is an interesting line-up at the Banking Inquiry today.

It will be interesting to hear if the non-executive directors of the Central Bank raised any flags.

And in the afternoon, we will get the developers' perspective on getting loans. "“They are being directed to attend the Inquiry to provide an overview of the relationship between company and its principal financial institutions, referring, in particular, to the processes behind loan applications, monitoring and oversight of loans by those institutions, a description and assessment of how multi-bank lending in respect of his company was managed and a description and assessment of the business models supporting the expansion of his business in the years leading up to the banking crisis. The Inquiry is also interested in finding out at first hand the impact of the crash on the property sector.”

Session 1: 9.30 a.m. – 11.15 a.m.

David Begg, former General Secretary ICTU & Non-Executive Director Central Bank & CBFSAI
John Dunne, Director General IBEC & former Non-Executive Director Central Bank & IFSRA

Session 2: 11.30 a.m. – 1.15 p.m.

Fergus Murphy, former Group Chief Executive Officer, EBS

Session 3: 2.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.

Sean Mulryan, Founder, Ballymore Homes

Session 4: 4.30 p.m. – 6.15 p.m.

Michael O’Flynn, Founder, O’Flynn Construction Group

It's been on the radio a couple of times this morning - David Begg received (and sought) zero training for his role on the board of the Central Bank over a period of 15 years. I wonder if he was asked if he felt qualified to take his seat on the board?

Tomorrow's schedule is interesting as well.

The Oireachtas Banking Inquiry will continue its hearings when it will meet with Enda Kenny, Richard Bruton, Joan Burton, Pat Rabbitte & Joe O’Reilly tomorrow, Thursday, 23rd July.

The schedule for the meeting in Committee Room 1, Leinster House is:

Session 1: 9 am – 11.45 am

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD & Minister Richard Bruton TD

Session 2: 12 noon – 2.30 pm

An Tánaiste Joan Burton TD & Pat Rabbitte TD

Session 3: 3.30 pm – 5.30 pm

Joe O’Reilly, Founder, Castlehorn Construction and Chartered Land Group

Is the banking inquiry a waste of time and effort?

Has anything been learned except that the big boys are well scripted sorry but not my fault
