I'm hoping someone can help pls.
We had some work carried out on our home in 2014. Totalled about €1500 incl VAT. didn't do anything about the HRI as knew we wouldn't exceed the minimum spend in that tax year. Then the scheme got extended into this year. And lo and behold, we will soon have forked out another €7000 approx on work so have gone over the threshold. Reading about the scheme though, it would appear that details have to be entered onto the system in advance of the work. So does that mean that anything we have done to date and not entered is not usable/claimable?
If anyone can explain the scheme to me in plain and simple terms, I would be much obliged. Thanks.

You can't apply retrospectively. You must apply in advance of the works.

What's done is done. You can't get a grant for that I'm afraid.

Really? It kind of seems daft. Especially seeing as they only decided to extend it into 2015 late last year, allowing both years' spends to be combined.
Not what I wanted to read this am. But thanks for your reply. :)

what exact stage are you at now, are u and the builder complaint as required as well as last year.
I would give it a shot as its not as clearcut as suggested by Paddy

If a Homeowner or Landlord is having qualifying work done but isn’t spending over €4,405 (before VAT) on the property, it’s still worth choosing a HRI qualifying Contractor and having the work details entered on HRI online. The Homeowner or Landlord may have more qualifying work carried out on the property between now and 31 December 2015. All the spending on the property, added up, could reach the €4,405 (before VAT). It will be very difficult to go back to a Contractor, to try to get him or her to enter details to HRI online, for a job from a year or more ago.

Just a query, if a contractor doesnt receive full and final payment, can the Revenue suspend the payment of tax credits to the home owner

If the contractor doesn't complete their portion of the submission vie Revenue, you won't get the credits. This and more on the Revenue HRI section.
