Aer Lingus Share Sale deadline. Help!

I read in the Irish Times (a few weeks ago) that the deadline for deciding to take up the IAG offer was July 31st. I put it on the back burner - busy life.
Today I called Goodbody (where my shares are held) and they told me they CLOSED the decision date on July 23rd! I had no notification.
So now I'm in the situation where I could end up with my shares not being 'taken up' by IAG, and they'd (apparently) become unsellable.

How can Goodbody get away with advancing the closing date by 8 days?
Do I have any way to avail of the official closing date still - July 31st?

No. The broker may ask the information from you in advance of the closing date so that they can, in turn, reply before the real deadline. Don't worry, if the offer is accepted the terms will be extended to everybody, even on a compulsory basis.

Thanks for that, but the media said that if the deal is between 75% and 90% taken up there may be no compulsory purchase on remaining shares, and possibly no further opportunity for outstanding shareholders to sell to IAG. You could become locked in.
Maybe unlikely, but it's a possibility, right?

Scare tactics to ensure a high vote. IAG want AerLingus, not just a majority holding.

Well whaddya know - Micko throws a spanner in the works yet again.

So much for my concerns about deadlines.
"What fekin deadline?" Says Micko!

So does this mean it's all off?

The shareholding Irish public were told they'd get their cheques in a fortnight just yesterday. Now there will be a lot of disappointed punters.
Micko is just messing with our heads, haha!

Well I see IAG have extended the deadline for acceptance because of this. So thanks to Micko, I'm back in the game.
