Reading an article today caught my eye in that our Garda Commissioner has appointed her husband to head up an enquiry into leaks to the media!!!

It got me wondering. Could this happen in the USA and are there any examples?

So what? Are you saying the guys career should suffer because he happens to be married to the commissioner/ boss and should therefore never be offered a task that is being offered to all his colleagues of similar rank. I don't know him but I haven't heard any suggestions that he is anything but a very capable officer.

But Sunny raises a very valid point.

The guy is a senior police officer. Has he to be excluded from all promotions and special projects because his wife became the Garda Commissioner?

If she had appointed her husband, who was a barrister, when barristers have plenty of other clients to work for, I can see why people would object.
