Hi All,

Looking for advice on what expenses I can claim against tax on a holiday home letting.
Rubbish, broadband, electricity?

Also can I claim mileage if I go there to do the changeover?

TIA

Holiday home rentals are taxed on the same basis as rental properties (unless you are doing a large amount of them). There are narrow classes of expenses that may be claimed. Rubbish, broadband and electricity should be okay. Mileage may not necessarily be allowable unless you can get it under the expense of managing that property. Strictly speaking milege is only available for employees so it would be the relevant part of your motor expenses and only if that is allowable. In a few words - don't expect the Revenue to agree with you if they look at it!
