My mum has been with vodafone for years, about once a year they ring her and convince her to get an upgrade. They lock her into a new contract and usually sell her a few add ons. She's a marketers dream!

Her contract is now up and Vf are on to her again to lock her into another long contract. She uses her phone for texting and calls, has no need for any data allowance. She does make alot of calls to landlines, as most of her friends have landlines. Can anyone recommend a contract for her, with any network?

What about "pay as you go"? Don't they offer the facility of automatic top-up every month, so she doesn't need to worry about adding credit each month.. but it does depend on what "a lot of calls" works out as...

Shaking.
Send reg letter to Vodaphone (keep a copy) and state you only want to engage in written contracts and will they please acknowledge this request.
Otherwise will they please remove you from any calls emanating from Vodaphone.

My dad does not use data or text so I switched him over to the unlimited talk PAYG with meteor for €10.

I think that this gives him up to 5000 minutes per month.

The tesco €15 per month plan might be worth a look also. Unlimited Calls to All Mobiles & Landlines. U keep the €15 credit - so can use the following month. I am a light user and only top up 6-7 times a year. U also get tesco points for top ups if that is of interest.

If current phone is locked to vodafone they may charge to unlock the phone if she moves to another provider - it depends. Their website will have the t&cs

Many thanks for the replies. She has a fear of pay as you go in case she runs out of credit, no matter what I say about automatic top ups! Think I'll check out the tesco monthly plans.

Don't know if your Mum travels but if she does, Tesco Mobile is not only the most expensive for making/receiving calls abroad, I've just discovered in Australia and New Zealand that texts and calls from outside Ireland do not arrive.

Hi, I'm profoundly deaf and 60+, and use text/email/internet for communication/info. 2 years ago, I changed my mob to smartphone, which is great esp for email/internet, and took out with VF a 24-month contract which will expire next month. What REALLY bugs me is that the package for 35euros p.mth contains 100 mins (NEVER used for past 23 mths!) and 500Mb (increased to 1GB last year, thank goodness). I'm looking at options of PAYG but problem is the confusing range of packages by networks. Any suggestions/advice would be very much appreciated, allencat3
