Hi
Id appreciate some advice- my current policy GloHealth Better Saver is due for rewenal the 31st May- 1 x adult and 3 x children at a cost of €1756. Ive been looking at other policies such as Laya Flex 125 which looks a better deal as its cheaper and seems to offer more cover as I only have to pay for 1 child. I went back to Glo and they recommended NetMore 100 and offered it for approx. €1400 which is still dearer than Flex 125

Totally confused now- which of these is a better deal? I want decent hospital cover and am not too concerned about day to day health expenses as we re a reasonably health family.

Thanks in advance
Eileen

There are actually three Laya Flex 125 plans so you need to be sure which one you're comparing...

This comparison assumes Flex 125 Choice.

Some things to consider...
(i) Have you checked that the hospital list with GloHealth NetMore100 covers your location?
(ii) GloHealth BetterSaver plan for private hospitals has a cap on the excess. Given that you'll have 4 lifes on the policy, this could be important.
"Covered with €500 excess per policy per year, regardless of the number of people on the policy"
(iii) Most common procedure will likely be "day case private hospital"... 125 excess with Laya versus 50/75 with GloHealth.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much really appreciate that.

Snowyb,

You recommend Laya in most of the plans. Our staff consultant has recommended Aviva Select Plus - are you stuck on Laya or is it genuinely the better benefit for price?

I stand corrected - I see Snowyb gives a fair recommnedation across all suppliers. Taking the VHI with kids @1/2 price deal and 1 adult in there is a good suggestion from another post by Snowyb.....I've been steered to Aviva plans but looking at our outpatient record over the last 2 years (we focus on healthy eating and staying active) the 1/2 price VHI plans would be better for us.

zzAido1,

I would not recommend Aviva Select Plus as it does not include hi-tech hospital cover for Blackrock Clinic or Mater Hospital, just Beacon hospital is
covered. Also there's restricted hospital lists for public and private hospitals. Outpatient excess 200 vs 1. Laya Simply Connect would be much better cover overall for 50 euro extra.

The VHI half price offer is great value for kids so that usually wins out overall.

VHI is best value at the moment for families with children.

Unless your organisation is paying for this plan, there is better value than Aviva Select Plus.
