Hello, should claims made to a car hire excess insurance on a rental car be listed when taking a policy for a regular car insurance for own car?

Long story short I had to make a claim for scratches on a rental a few weeks back. Scratches appeared when the car was parked so no idea who caused them. Car rental company then charged me and I put a claim to the car hire insurance. I am now looking at buying own car with associated regular car insurance. Do I need to declare the claim made to the car hire insurance?

Thanks

How can you say yes, a car hire company is just trying to look for faults and are often disputed because the car was not check fully when picking it up. I had to claim from a car hire insurance because I had tiny chip in the windscreen (quite common on Irish roads) and was so small it could have been there all along.

Because he hasnt just paid the car hire company for damage to the car, he has made a valid claim under an insurance policy. The question asked is "had any accidents, losses or claims in the last 5 years whether insured or not".
