Hi

My sister is claiming partial capacity benefit which means she can work part time and receive support from social welfare. She also receives an allowance for her husband as his income is around €135 weekly for part time work. he does not work in June and for part of July. For these weeks he signs on his stamps as he worked full time prior to the cuts this year.

in the last 2 weeks her husband's employer has got him to work full time. the employer told him he would pay him in June with the extra wages that he has earned so he would not have to sign on during June.

The problem is my sister did not inform social welfare that he worked full time for 2 weeks. Mainly because her husband was told that there would be no extra wages, so in term of his wages, it would be the same

The problem is the employer has since paid her husband for the 2 weeks full time and this is reflected in his monthly payslip and lodgement in the bank.

My sister is really worried that she received an allowance for her husband that she knows that she should not of received. What will she do? She understands that it must be sorted as the social welfare will see that for those 2 weeks he will have received a higher wage. she said she or her husband would never intentionally try to fraud the system.

Sorry for the long winded post, any advice would be great, she worried!!!!

She needs to inform Social Welfare and they will deduct any monies owed over a number of weeks.

all sorted, she contacted her local social welfare office and explained the situation. she has to pay back the extra money she receied, but she has no problem with that. Thanks for posting moneybox
