Hi want to buy in mullingar market point versus petiteswood manor both have 2 bed apartments for sale i am single nurse moving there would Anyone have feedback

Market point has a bad name due to some of the apartments being used as brothels I don't know if the situation is still the same as it was covered in the local papers and this may have been addressed. This is the reason why these apartments are cheaper than other properties in the area. Pettiswood is a much nicer area although not as close to the hospital.

Hi Sunshine,

I would suggest that you consider renting for a few months before taking the plunge and buying.

As for the two places you mentioned, Market Point is very high density and I would give it a miss. As for Petiswood Manor, I'm not aware of any two bedroom apartments in this housing development. As far as I know it's a mix of 3 & 4 beds semi-detached units. It would be less dense than Market Point with more green spaces. If I had to choose between the two, then definitely Petiswood.

hi guys I have been doing more research and my budget will allow me to put an offer on properties in Deravarra house, Rathin Eoghan, Ashelane, Ushanagh Court, The gables Lakepoint, Tailteann Court, Ardilaun Heights or Westfield house these are all mainly apartments. I am looking for something that is in the best area/complex if anyone knows which one to stay away from or which one to consider I would value your opinion I will do more research but it would be good to rule out ones that are not suitable - I was delighted with the feedback with market point as when you are a outsider you don't get that anyway if anyone could help thanks so much in advance!

Derravarra House is a refit of an old mental hospital building. I doubt the interior layout or facilities are very modern.
I would be especially wary of the Gables in Lakepoint as some of the other apartment complex's in Lakepoint have well publicised problems with fire safety with one in particular having featured on Prime Time.
Ardilaun Heights is in the middle of a very high density housing estate in which I would have concerns about anti-social behaviour.
Tailteann Court is a former "ghost" development which was left unfinished during the recession. It has recently been completed and is right next to the Hospital.
Raitlin Eoighan is in the middle of a really rough part of town. Avoid like the plague.

I don't know much about the rest.

Ashe Lane is supposed to be nice a colleagues brother lives there. Ushnagh Court I personally would avoid due to undesirables living in some of them. Westfield House is on Patrick St and wouldn't be a great location. Have you thought about a house, there is one for sale in Tower View the banks are selling it, asking price is 99K but you might get it for the same price as some of the apartments and its a nice location (older housing estate)
