Firhouse

Heya fellow askaboutmoneyonians;

Myself, herself and the little herself are looking into buying our first house. Price wise it's maddness in Dublin. Firhouse seems like the best bet for us price wise.

What is the region like? Any dodgey areas? Places to avoid etc. I know it's right close to Tallaght and (sorry guys) but tradionally Tallaght could be a tough auld spot.

So what do ya think?

Firhouse is a big area. It ranges from good to not so good but no really bad areas.
You'll get what you pay for in that respect.

It's also close to Rathfarnham / Templeogue which tends to keep prices up.

There are a good few halting sites in the Rathfarnham and Firhouse areas but there's very little trouble, if any, from them.

Nothing to be sorry about, but what do you actually know about Tallaght? Saying it is a tough auld spot is a pretty sweeping generalization. It's a massive place with many differnet areas and types of people.

Tallaght has a population greater than that of Limerick City.

I lived in the Old Court area for 8 years. Gone at least 14 years but I found it safe and convenient,if a little undeveloped at that stage. That's all changed and the area is very mature looking and has much better facilities. Lots of friends both in Old Court and Ballycullen and no problems. Firhouse is a pretty solid family choice, I would say.

I live in Ballycullen..very safe and lots of families. A lovely place to live. Ask away if you have any queries. What area of Firhouse are you looking at..its quite a big area.
