just wondering did anyone else have a similar problem.

We were living in Australia and paid the 2014 liability for LPT online and on time, to which I received an acknowledgement number, in fact i have the printed out receipt from them that they tell you keep! It has the date, time, amount paid etc all on it.

Anyway, then we went on to pay 2015s and that was when we seen they claimed 2014s was still outstanding. We rang them and they said they never received the payment and said it was up to us to prove we paid it. When we asked them how then, in the name of god we have an acknowledgment number if we didn't pay it etc . We asked them to check then is the number valid and to see if it went through all ok, all they will say is no. So frustrating. Then we proceeded onto pay the 2015 during the same phone call and he says have you a pen to take note of your acknowledgement number for 2015 one. Its crazy, that stupid number obviously means nothing, yet they treat it as it is.

AS we were in Australia at the time we don't know what card/account we paid it from and having huge difficultly trying to see it leaving our account.
Is there no way Revuen cannot check their own acknowledgement number?!

Surely as you have the date of the amount it's relatively simple to check where the money came from. You just look up your credit card bill or bank account for the period. With online banking you can even put in the date (put in week) in your search. If you don't keep your credit card bills, then you'll have to ask the credit card companies. I presume you did it as a one off payment?

If you're paying by direct debit authority, this year you can click for 2016 as well. I got caught on being late with LPT as I assumed I'd set it up forever but not so. Only people with monthly direct debits are.

Are you talking to revenue on the phone or by email? I'd send them an email to ask them to trace the acknowledgement number. Please be aware that revenue helpdesk for LPT is not revenue but an outsourced company in Cork. They don't have access to your files, I had to be put through to revenue by them last week as I had a query on LPT. It is my experience that it takes revenue up to two months to reply to emails.

I've checked my confirmation email from last year, it does indeed have the date and time and acknowledgement number which revenue statates the following:

Please note the acknowledgement number below for your records.

Were you talking to the call center by any chance.

I had the same problem last year. They asked me to forward them proof which I dutifully did! I sat waiting on confirmation that simply didn't come. I called up again and low and behold they hadn't received the documentation I sent them. I finally got a competent individual on the telephone and he was able to sort out my problem. I haven't had any further issues.
