looking for some opinion or experience on the Tax consequences of inadvertently handling an employee as an independant contractor? specifically can Revenue look to back date & clawback any tax owed and also charge interest , penalties & fines?
 
Yes - this is an area Revenue are constantly reviewing and can lead to significant liabilities for employers if they have classified employees incorrectly.

Revenue will usually look back to prior years as well as the current year.
