Hi

Anyone give me an indication of cost of a basic will? Just a small family with house and a 2 year and not much else. But want to line up my ducks.

Thanks

At certain times of the year The Law Society have solicitors around the country who do it free of charge. You may be asked to donate to a nominated charity aprox €50, but not if you don't have it.

I suggest that rather than waiting for the winter sale on will making that you make an appointment with a local small firm who will probably charge you about
€100 - €200 for providing the service.

It is the consequences of one or both parents dying without a will, with small children, that is the most shocking.

I rang around this week to several small firms both in Dublin and in Midlands and prices varied from 2oo euros upwards for a couple. Even the Law Society upped their charitable donation to 200 euros during make a will week last year, those 50 euro quotes are well gone.

If you wish you can do it online free here http://dspcawills.com/ by pledging a donation to the DSPCA

Agee 100%. It is a really important document and spending €200 on it far outweighs the trouble caused by not having one.

It's very important to put an enduring power of attorney so someone has power of attorney over your assets if you no longer have to mental capacity to sign for yourself.
