Haha Gerry - Very true, I need a holiday!
Sorry Taldar , Couldn,t resist.

On a Serious Note.

With election looming, there is no way our Political Jellyfish ie Spineless, will ignore or dare ignore the number of good payers who are being stolen from on these excessive interest rates.

Every one of you that is affected should send an appropriate e-mail to a few TD,s NOW.

Hi fuzzy

What is happening is ridiculous. People complained some years ago. It's now clear that most of them have been overcharged and it's taking 6 months to stop overcharging them!

The TDs should be taking this up with the CB and the Minister for Finance. There has to be a better way.

Brendan

I have said it to my local TDs. Some of them weren't even aware of the issue. Then others that did said they couldn't interfere. It seems like there is no-one to go to. I also rang the PTSB yesterday regarding dates and was told May for completion of the investigation. The person from the Central Bank I spoke to told me they weren't aware of the exact date and advised me to ring the PTSB. So all in all it seems like a complete joke as it's difficult to get concrete info. from anyone.

Hi folks. I think I may be one of these customers.. I pulled out my original contract yesterday. I drew down on a fixed rate and on my contract it states that on expiry of the fixed rate, the rate applicable to the loan will be then the PTSB Tracker Mortgage Rate. I broke my fixed rate in 2009 and requested the Tracker Rate but was told no because I had broken my fixed rate. I never thought anything more about it and have being paying in the 5% since. When the news broke out I rang the help line and was told nothing tbh. Just that everything is being investigated. Who do I write to, to see if I am one of these affecting customers. Could really do with going onto the tracker rate.

By all means do not pester your Td,s but when on a SVR @ 200,000 @ 4% costs a Customer an extra 4,000 every year and since this is going on for 4+ plus years , I would, if I had a SVR Mortgage that it is worth several e-mails to several Td,s to get their finger out.
I would also suggest remind them there is an election and if they thought they will lose votes over Water , wait for the 300,000 votes on mortgages.

PTSBCase,
As said to Taldar, these Central Bank (the consumer friend?) Ptsb etc are now forced into sorting. You will now get your money , so patience. Did you ever see chanchers concede easily?

Izzysar,
Do not phone these people , only write to them and state (do not ask)is your case under review as you are one of those affected. Send it in Registered Mail and keep a copy.
Do not worry if you get a slow response .

On several threads Brendan continues to highlight this wrong and he highlights the blatant hypocrisy of our Regulators/ Banks/ Government .
Like him, I am amazed at how long this sore was allowed to continue.

.

I totally agree with your points. I know first-hand the financial & emotional affects of PTSB negligence.

TD's have been ignoring this issue for many years & I dont have any confidence in their ability to put adequate pressure on the CB & PTSB.

We need to accept that the Banks & Government are in cahoots...

It's almost 8 weeks now since news of ptsb withdrawing their case came out, and still no communication from them at all, they've no bother taking the monthly direct debit from my account though. Ptsb know rightly where they have done the wrong thing on these mortgages.they should have written to those affected and said they wouldn't be taking any more direct debits until they had sorted out the refunds that are due.

Hi Gerry,
I have been ringing PTSB for years now complaining that when i came off my fixed early i was not advised that the tracker would be lost and that there was no penalty for changing. But like everyone else getting nowhere... for example the usual reply was " i can put you on to my manager but she will tell you the same thing i am, which she then would. Can i ask what address for PTSB to send the letter to as i really want written correspondence to and from them saying that they are reviewing my case. When i ring the helpline now i am just told wait to see if you get a letter. Thanks very much in advance.

You can email them asking them to review your case and they will reply to you by letter.

No, I've heard nothing.

Should be next month I think. Absolute disgrace leaving us waiting for so long. This investigation should have been completed in a much timely manner.

I hope the postman delivers the letters every day and I check this website daily.

I received a letter from PTSB last week saying that I should hear of the outcome no later than the 6th of May. Still over 3 weeks away though. Very stressful. I agree it is a disgrace - They know exactly who is impacted and have done since early 2009. The Government and Central Bank are a disgrace too for allowing this to drag on for as long as it has.

PTSB are currently seeking to raise 400 million in share issue. HAe look at prospectus as it should highlight this tracker issue at a risk, They would be obliged to comment on it, You may get more information that way

Did you contact them in the last few weeks PTSBCase, was just wondering how come you received a letter from them

Hi clint Westwood. I had made a complaint to them in feb., so I'm guessing the letter they sent last week is just to say they are still investigating etc. I'll keep you posted if I hear of anything else.
