Need to register for ROS to claim Health Expenses?

Hi,

I am a PAYE worker who used some share options in late November last year and filled the RTSO1 form and sent the check immediately.

Now this year I go to apply for tax relief on medical expenses on PAYE Anytime and it states that I have an active income tax registration so I cannot edit that year.

I called Revenue and they said I would need to register for ROS service online but when I looked at that it looks like it is looking for self employed people, asking for tax type approval number and ID Number which I don't know. It all looks a bit heavy for someone who is not self employed. Is there an easier way for me to do this through paperwork. And if so what do I need to do?

Apologies if it has been dealt with before. I took a look at key posts but didn't see it.

regards

I am in the same boat myself. Just a normal paye worker. Can we apply for the online service????

I was in similar boat number of years ago. I wrote to Revenue outlined clearly the situation, copy of the tax paid docket and receipt, and requested that I remain as a PAYE worker. it took a few bits of correspondence back and forth with them requesting more info (60s for a number of years, etc) but it got sorted. suggest you do the same AND KEEP COPIES OF YOUR CORRESONDENCE, cos Revenue are great for loosing stuff or the person assigned to your case goes on hols or is out sick and it sits in a big pile of unprocessed documentation.

It's actually quite easy to set up an online ROS account and just enter the relevant details - it's not just for the self-employed. We use it because we had rental income, even though we're both paying Income Tax and USC and other related charges through our pension payroll.

Right so I have got my ROS.ie access but there is no option for the RTS01 form on the dropdown menus. Does anyone know what form or option that you select for this? For some reason when I try and call the ROS helpline my RSI number keeps redirecting me to PAYE anytime help instead of ROS.

But do you need to edit the RTS01? Are you not just looking to input your medical expenses?

Sorry I should have said. I would like to pay income tax on share options as well as claim the med 1 expenses. As when I last used the RTS01 form in November and paid my tax by Cheque I got a letter from revenue telling me to do it through ROS.ie or else.

Is there a general form for this that can be done during the year>
