I am a bit confused as to when to tell the Insurance company of a medical condition. One Company said there is no need as long as you have notified the Licensing authority. Another said if the condition was on the RSA list as one where there was no need to notify the RSA then no need to tell the Insurane Company. I appreciate on renewal this matter would have to be stated on the renewal papers. To add further confusion i deal with the AA who said a doctors certificate always required where a medical condition is involved yet the Insurance Company that underwrites them said no need provided RSA advised. They did however that a seperate company deals with Broker business. To be on safe side i will get doctors but its annoying at least for me that this issue is not clear cut.

If you're insuring through the AA, then their rules will apply, not those of their underwriters. Different insurers will impose dfiferent rules, what does your current policy say? Was the condition one mentioned during the process of arranging your current insurance? If so then it is likely you should inform them straight away.

and other insurers say that as long as you are the holder of a licence, you are covered. there are however medical conditions that prohibit you holding a licence
