Credit rating question

We are in the process of applying for a mortgage. In my late teens/ early 20's I had a lerson loan for car and student cc for 800e. Everything was paid off etc but at the time some payments were late. Maybe a day or two up to a few days. I'm wondering what the chances are of this negatively affecting my credit rating? All closed by late 2010 so not full 5 years yet. Husband would have perfect credit rating.

I know but it wouldn't be here in time as we have an app with Ulster bank on Monday evening. I know no one can give a definitive answer I was just hoping for some peace of mind to ease my major nerves. We've a joint acc for the last 5 years and never any problems with that.a car loan Thats nearly cleared in my husbands name that never had any issues etc. Just my own personal childish stupidity from 5 years ago. But loan& cc werent closed til Oct 2010ish so would still be on the report. IF anything negative was sent on.
I guess my q is do bank of Ireland generally send on Notice to ICB about late payments that were actually paid? Thanks!

Bank of Ireland would have, yes. The loan is repaid now and you sound like there are no subsequent issues so it may not be a major issue. If they bring it up, you can explain. I don't know for sure but "a day or two" may not even be considered "late" so it may not have been recorded as such.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I've literally trawled back through all the old posts to see if anyone has a similar experience and what the outcomes were. Seems there's a 50/50 chance it was reported on. I can't rightly remember but I think it was the cc payment alone that was ever late. Don't think the loan was. either either we'll know for definite after a few days. Things have been so positive for us for so long that I'd hate my stupidity to be the cause of us losing the mortgage and subsequently this potential house. Thanks againb!

Hi Rolleregg,

I'm in a very similar situation and feel your pain! I've just applied for a mortgage with BOI with my husband who has a perfect credit rating,
Anyway - I ordered an ICB report as to see did my loan & credit card from my early 20s show anything....it showed that I had loans, but no details on the late payments as -
The ICB report only show repayment history for the last 24 months, so, any late repayments that you had wont show if they were outside of the last two years.

If the loans do show up on the report it will purely show that they are now paid off with no balance outstanding.

Hope that puts your mind at ease - I know it's a stressful time!

Rep I could hug you!!! That is so reassuring!! I think I've lost a few lbs this weekend with how nervous I've been feeling. And even though we won't know for a few more days I still can't convince myself to relax and take things as they come. We've got our 10% deposit from savings and 3-4% for fees & stamp duty etc. our mortgage would be for 94,000. Hope things go well for you both.

Well, we've just been granted full approval for a mortgage of 93,600. 90% of the asking price. Things are with the solicitors now. :) thanks for the advice. ( and patience)!!
