Name and praise the good guys!

In the FSO's Annual Report, he names all companies against whom he upheld or partially upheld at least three complaints.

But who are the good guys? Which large financial services providers do not make the list?

I can think of only one large company, but there must be others.

Standard Life

That is pretty good going. Standard Life is an investment manager and the level of complaints against investment managers is quite high as people are disappointed in the losses they have been making.

Friends First had no claim substantiated, with only 3 partially substantiated.

All the private health insurance companies
VHI has over 50% of the market, and had no complaint substantiated with only 4 partly substantiated.

No complaints at all against Laya, Aviva or Glohealth.

That’s interesting, the case that I am referring to in the thread above was against the VHI. We received very detailed, polite and apologetic letters from the VHI outlining why they could not under any circumstances entertain our claim.

The complainant an elderly family member did not want to pursue the matter any further, thinking it was pointless on reading the VHI responses.

With persuasion a complaint went to the FSO who accepted and asked the VHI a number of specific questions regarding our complaint.

That was it, the VHI did a complete U-Turn, and agreed to pay the full €30K+ claim, if we confirm we no longer want this complaint adjudicated on by the FSO.

It would be useful and very interesting to know how many complaints were received about each individual provider, and how many each individual provider settled, not just the number upheld or partly upheld after adjudication.
