I am just filling in my form 11 online for tax year 2014 and I have the following question. A quick look online revealed to me that there was no change in PRSI from tax year 2013 to tax year 2014

In the tax year 2013
My USC/PRSI calculation on the summary page of the form 11 online was:

PRSI/USC/TRS

Universal social charge self 10036@2% = 200.72
Universal social charge self 5980@4% = 200.72
Universal social charge self xxxxx@7% = Xxxxxx

However on the form 11 for tax tear 2014 it is:

PRSI/USC/TRS

PRSI Self Xxxxxx@4% =xxxxxx
Universal social charge self 10036@2% = 200.72
Universal social charge self 5980@4% = 200.72
Universal social charge self xxxxx@7% = Xxxxxx

What does the PRSI-Self mean? And why was it not there the previous year?
Thanks ...

Sorry question still stands if anyone can help.....
I would imagine many posters on here will be filling out there online Form 11 soon enough and will be also querying this.

T-B-M. THANK YOU!!!!!!
so in summary of that link.......
When calculating your PRSI liability for tax year 2014......
you now have to additionally pay PRSI at 4 % on unearned income. Which is income received by virtue of owning property, inheritance, pensions and payments received from public welfare.

Actually reading through that link brough my attention to the fact that we also have to pay PRSI at 4% on deposit savings as well as DIRT at 41%!!!
