Hi, trying to find owners of a property. On land registry the owners listed are now deceased, about 3 years ago, and the land registry not been updated with new owners. The solicitors listed (25 years ago) are no longer in business. How do I find who would be looking after this case?

Thank you

So, OP has done some preliminary research and is able to say that the listed owners are deceased.

thedaddyman's suggestion is probably best.

Is there anyone living in the house? Is it conceivable that there is no next of kin? As 44brendan suggests, you could do a probate office search and see if anyone has applied for a Grant. And, if so, requisition a copy.

It can happen that property is simply left with no-one paying any attention to it. The one thing guaranteed to flush out an owner or someone with an interest, is to start exerting acts of ownership over the land/ property - e.g. put up a fence, a gate, change locks etc,etc..

Sorry for delay in replying!

The property seems abandoned. As far as we know it was left to a distant relative, not from the area, who doesn't seem to have taken up ownership.

Not sure if neighbours would know who solicitor now is. Probate office could be the way to go!

Thanks
