Seeking advice on behalf of my brother. He owns a house with a controlled tenant, i.e a life tenant who pays a rent of €32 per week. Is he obliged to pay the LPT and the NPPR ? I don't think he has paid either and is now getting very concerned.

Which is it? A controlled tenancy? Or a life tenant?

I thought the 2004 Act pretty much ended controlled tenancy situations. If its a life tenancy, its more likely the life tenant who has the obligation to pay LPT and would not have liability for NPPR.

Your brother should talk to a solicitor or accountant , provide the necessary information/clarification and obtain proper advice.

Sorry, it is a 'controlled tenancy' The tenant has been there for 40years plus.
