Hello
I'm trying to close my business - 18 months after we ceased trading.

Background
1. Everyone paid off - staff, creditors, landlord, revenue - EVERYONE.
2. Other director sloped off to Australia - not interested in anything to do with correct winding down of company
3. Accountant non-responsive

She did all our accounts and filing over the years. She was supposed to take care of the final winding down, but hasn't. It's just dragging on and on.

What can I do? Try do it myself? Hire someone to do it? The accountant has all our paperwork in storage, filed our returns and did our accounts. If I can't get this from her how can I file my CT1 (it's a zero return, but there are lots of fields to fill in).

Thanks for your help.

Send the briefest letter to her Institute, copying her in, enquiring as to their complaint procedures - that should light a fire under her.

Is the accountants office closed?

Can you make an appointment to discuss?

If your returns are late with the CRO then you have a problem.

@Joe_90 the CRO B1 is filed (late, I had to really hassle her), CT1 is late too but I've begged for time and informed Revenue.

She had her own small firm, but she closed it down when many of her clients closed down. She works for someone else now.

She is not responsing to repeated mails and calls.

@Kildavin, yeah that thought crossed my mind but you can bring a horse to water. What's the Institute going to do?

Yes. The threat to report her to the institute did get her to respond. She had depression so I had some sympathy for her plight. It was all sorted out in the end - just a few extra grey hairs.
