Can a gas boiler be installed in an attic conversion?

Mine was moved to an upstairs bathroom when the previous owners converted the attic - I replaced it a few years ago, and no-one comented on the location.

Just make sure you put in one of those carbon monoxide alarms and get a qualified installer. Also should be checked/serviced annually. I get a certificate for this.

Our gas boiler (in a rented house) is built into an Attic Laundry Room/Hot Press Room. Great heat builds up up there - fantastic for indoor clothes drying. Two Velux windows are in that room too. Only thing is that the washing machine shakes the house a bit when on the final spin!

Thanks guys. I've been looking at selling the property and the estate agent mentioned he wasn't keen on the location of the boiler. Thought it might raise questions from the building surveyor of potential purchasers.

I bought the house in 03 and the boiler location raised no questions. I've tried searching the building regs and can find nothing surrounding a gas boilers location.

Gas boilers are allowed in attics but they must be provided with a boarded walkway to and from the attic hatch to the boiler and a work platform provided around the boiler.
It is recommended that the attic is accessed with a proper attic steps rather than a loose ladder.

The other issue with boilers in attics is nuisance lock outs. Any air whatsoever bled from the system via radiators or automatic air vents, will affect the boiler first due to it being the highest part of the system.

Other poster mentioned in a bathroom. This is only allowed if the boiler is room sealed and any of the electrics above 50VAC are in a lockable cupboard enclosure.
Moisture is going to be a big issue here for the longevity of the appliance.
