How do I buy shares

Hi,

I dont own any sharesand never have. I have €35k to invest and am considering my options (deposit for a 2nd property/pay down on exisitng mortgage/shares).

I dont know anything about buying shares or where to start. Thats not to say I dont undertsand shares.

Can someone please give me a bit of guidance here in terms of where I should go to get the ball rolling on this or to do some research. Is there a website that I just set up an account with or should I speak to an advisor given that this is a a lot of money to me?

a fee based independent advisor is strongly recommend, I think the central bank have a list on their website.

You can buy shares through any Bank of Ireland, they use Davy Stockbrokers, or that used to be the arrangement.
