New to saving

I have an account with BOI but I'm not too keen on their 365 savings option as I'm looking for the flexibility of being able to save x amount a month by just making a transfer from my online account. One option that seems to suit is the Permanent TSB regular saver account. Though I don't have an account with them but all I have to do is set one up and then set that new account up as a beneficiary on my 365 account? Will I incur fees making those transfers every month?

Look at regular saver best buys. Best regular saver without awkward terms is nationwide UK 15 months, maximum 1k post month. You can just set up a direct debit from your 365 account. No you won't get charged fees for those monthly transfers.

Yes and then do a manual wire each month or set up a standing order.

No.

Certainly the best paying.

Thanks guys. Going to have a look at Nationwide as that seems to suit my needs. I know you said I won't get charged for those monthly transfers but I'm looking at BOI's fees for current accounts and for direct debits it's saying there's a fee of 20c?

As an aside to this, if I was to save for smaller things (e.g. holidays/occasions), what's a good way to go about this? Obviously I'd need to be able to access it in a relatively short period but the amounts would be quite small themselves. But I would like to keep them separate from the savings I'm talking about above.

Oh then looks like you will be charged for direct debits to savings account. God BOI sucks. I am with PTSB, no fees once 1500 transferred in one a month.

As for holiday, occasion savings, open an instant access account for this purpose - again best buys thread has list of same....
