I know someone will know the answer to my problem. There are two people using this home computer. We each have our own eMail address. Some of my eMails are going to the other persons email add. I have written to Eircom (no reply) I emailed today and guess what the reply went to other person. Eircom cannot help so what do I do?

Do you have different Windows logins/accounts for each person and/or different Outlook or, mot likely, Outlook Express email profiles for each? Or are you both using the same account (possible the default one that it boots into) and email client?

My knowledge of how these things work is zero. But I have been told that yes we have outlook and we do each have different eMail add. in that we have to log in with our name and password which is different. I may have to find out a bit more and get back to you when I do this.

I think I know what you mean there Swallow. When you turn on your computer, you just get straight in to the computer without typing in a password. To check your email, you just go in to Outlook Express and type in your own username & password and your emails are retrieved only you can see the emails previously downloaded for the other person also and vice versa. What you really need to do is to set up user names for logging on to the computer itself so that when you log on, you will only see all your private files, settings etc. When you go in to Oulook, only the emails you have downloaded will be there. Go in to Settings, Control Panel and set up your User accounts there.

Ribena, we have user accounts already. When the computer starts up the three accounts appear. I click on my name. I then go onto the internet via my account and check my eMails at Eircom.net. Just Now I have gone via outlook express and it automatically brings other persons account asking for their password , having logged in through my account. If this other persons account is deleted will it affect the other accounts and their eMail addresses. When I registered with Eircom, his name was registered because he pays the phone bill. He seldom uses eMail so would not miss not being on it.

What version of Windows are you using?? When you say you all have your own accounts, when you turn on the computer does a log on screen come up before you get in to your desktop for you to log in to your own personal settings??

All you need to do is create accounts within outlook or outlook express ... all the problem here is that both email accounts are setup in the one profile within the email client.

Remove the accounts from the general identity, then create 2 new identities which you can put passwords on so you don't log into the wrong one. The just setup 1 address in each identity ..... alternatively you could use their webmail ... [broken link removed]

Thanks for your replies, It has shown me how little I really know about this computer. Me thinks I need to educate myself on the workings of it before I go any further.

Would suggest that web-based email such as yahoo-mail would be better - you can access it from anywhere in the world. Eircom webmail has very limited storage so you have to constantly delete mails to free up room and you can't receive any very large files.
